public transport costs the earth?
By Ant | Nov 19, 2009
Ok in theory I am a big fan of public transport. But why is using it so difficult and so expensive? it’s never going to be mass transport until those two issues are resolved.
is there a conspiracy somewhere to keep public transport out of reach? Is it so expensive really when you consider the cost of car ownership?
I am writing this on a very nice yellow bus in Wellington. I paid in cash. I am old fashioned. That snapper card thing just seems like another example of a good idea badly implimented.
But that just about sums up public transport.

And, public transport as it stands is a nightmare for parents! Try getting a pram on a bus or train in wellington, and then, once you do, try finding somewhere to fit the damn thing!
I dread getting on a Wellington bus with my son’s pram, I turn bright red practically every time from Herculean juggling game that ensues.
