Anglican leaders statement on Gaza.

By / 15 January 2009

The Archbishops of Aotearoa and Polynesia have joined with other church leaders in calling for an end to hostilities in Gaza. Their joint statement is posted under news on this site. You can also read the statement of the Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Rowan Williams here, and the statement of the Bishop in Jerusalem here.

The Anglican Mission Board has also launched an emergency appeal in support of the Ahli Arab Anglican Hospital in Gaza.

The hospital is a profound example of the vision of peace the Anglican church has for the entire region. They provide critical medical and surgical care for all the people in the Gaza strip regardless of political affiliation, race, class or gender, and is in sore need of assistance. See the details of the appeal here.

About us

This site is run by the Social Justice Commission of the Anglican Church.

We seek to nurture justice spirituality and imagination, and engage in advocacy in all areas of life, overcoming poverty and transforming violence.

We encourage people to think and live “justly”, and emphasise debate and action on local, national and global issues.

Although we are Anglican, our vision isn’t so much about being Anglican. It’s about living justly. Justice is about how you live your life, and being just where we are. Working together, we can all flourish.
