Gardening pests
I note several posts re destroying garden *pests*. Before we kill anything we need to be sure what we are doing. Squashing caterpillars, or killing them off in other ways, can be more damaging to the environment than leaving them alive. In recent years there has been a major decline in the butterfly and moth populations, to the point where some butterflies are rarely seen, indeed are bordering on extinction. These creatures are part of the natural food chain, and their demise affects the ability of other, larger creatures, to survive. So before you kill anything off, check what they are, and how abundant they are. It may be that they do little harm to their host plant, and if there is a need to cull them, try not to destroy them all.
