Grassroots Voices

By / 25 March 2009

The Grassroots Voices report from the New Zealand Council of Christian Social Services has been out for a while now. It is a report well worth reading as it gives personal voice and story to the social issues that we know are a reality in New Zealand. The report looks at each social service that is accessed, and presents research and quotes from the providers, social workers, and those who access the services. There are also key recommendations that NZCCSS makes in each area.

There are a number of gaps in services that are highlighted, and a number of areas in which involvement from a parish would not be difficult. The need for mentors, for example, is raised in a number of places.

Either click on the publications tab of the NZCCSS website, or download the PDF here.

About us

This site is run by the Social Justice Commission of the Anglican Church.

We seek to nurture justice spirituality and imagination, and engage in advocacy in all areas of life, overcoming poverty and transforming violence.

We encourage people to think and live “justly”, and emphasise debate and action on local, national and global issues.

Although we are Anglican, our vision isn’t so much about being Anglican. It’s about living justly. Justice is about how you live your life, and being just where we are. Working together, we can all flourish.
