Has National muzzled the press?

By Ant / 6 March 2008

You’ll need to read between the lines of spin on this one, but I thought it would be of interest.

The New Zealand Herald’s have published a correction which seems to have inflamed many, regarding John Key’s comment in the APN-owned Bay Report that “we would love to see wages drop.” Has there been political interference, as the journalists’ union, the Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union, believes there has been? The public are very nervous about cloak and dagger stuff from National after the Exclusive Brethren fiasco last election. We don’t forget that easily, do we.

About us

This site is run by the Social Justice Commission of the Anglican Church.

We seek to nurture justice spirituality and imagination, and engage in advocacy in all areas of life, overcoming poverty and transforming violence.

We encourage people to think and live “justly”, and emphasise debate and action on local, national and global issues.

Although we are Anglican, our vision isn’t so much about being Anglican. It’s about living justly. Justice is about how you live your life, and being just where we are. Working together, we can all flourish.
