Kaupapa Awhi Whanau visit Christchurch
Kaupapa Awhi Whanau are a mixed discipline group working with the hahi (church) through Te Puni Kokiri to deliver respite and help with a strategic response, especially in Christchurch’s Eastern suburbs. They work very closely with service providers on the ground, and are both practical and strategic.
Their work has been very warmly received. Their first report went down very well, and many of the recommendations were acted upon by government. Their linkages with Te Hui Amorangi o te Upoko o te Ika, Te Hui Amorangi o te Tai Tokerau, and the Social Justice Commission, have proved really valuable and important to the roopu (group) and also those with whom they have been involved.
