New Interchurch Bioethics Council website
Have you ever asked yourself how Christians can respond ethically to issues such as organ donation, genetic modification, euthanasia, reproductive technologies, and climate change? It’s these type of questions that the InterChurch Bioethics Council (ICBC) wants the wider church to be able to think about, and its new website (www.interchurchbioethics.org.nz) provides a range of information, study guides and discussion resources about these and other issues.
Established in 2002 as the “Interchurch Commission on Genetic Engineering”, the ICBC was relaunched in 2003 and its scope of interest expanded to include the spiritual, ethical and cultural dimensions of biotechnology and its consequences in Aotearoa New Zealand. The ICBC is a collaborative body supported by the Anglican, Methodist and Presbyterian Churches of Aotearoa New Zealand, whose members have between them considerable expertise and knowledge in science, ethics, theology, medicine and education including tangata whenua perspectives on these matters.
We invite you to come and explore the website and its resources, so those within the New Zealand church can speak to these important issues.
Look under Resources on the website for the following study resources prepared by the ICBC:
Where Do We Stand?
A resource on the lifting of the moratorium on genetically modified organisms in New Zealand.
Making Good Decisions in Biotechnology: Stem Cell Research, Cloning and Genetic Information.

Euthanasia: Unethical Intervention or Death with Dignity?

Real, Urgent, and Personal: A Christian Approach to Global Climate Change.
