White Ribbon Day

By Aidan / 25 November 2008

Today, 25th November 2008, is White Ribbon Day.

It is a day to show by wearing a ribbon that you don’t condone violence towards women of any kind.

Guys there are many things to think of here. It is wider than physically hitting your partner. What prevents women you know from being able to escape an abusive relationship?

Is the man (and men, in a wider context) preventing her freedom by tying her in financially? Or by emotional manipulation? It isn’t un-PC to say that western society still caters more for the single man than the single woman.

What else can you think of for guys to consider today?

About us

This site is run by the Social Justice Commission of the Anglican Church.

We seek to nurture justice spirituality and imagination, and engage in advocacy in all areas of life, overcoming poverty and transforming violence.

We encourage people to think and live “justly”, and emphasise debate and action on local, national and global issues.

Although we are Anglican, our vision isn’t so much about being Anglican. It’s about living justly. Justice is about how you live your life, and being just where we are. Working together, we can all flourish.
