Yet another Key flip flop
National has been on a mission, trying to soften its public image to appeal to the middle-of-the-road voter who’s a bit weary of the current Labour government… but all the while sneaking more extreme right-wing policies that will hit us hard under the radar.
The latest U-turn came yesterday, with John Key saying that he would keep Working for Families under a National government, despite that fact that he has consistently labelled the scheme “middle-class welfare”. This U-turn is just one more reason why it’s hard to take this guy seriously. Key justified his turnabout, saying that he considers “offering people certainty is much more important [than the concerns we hold about the system] in these tough economic times.” Which is exactly why voting in John Key would be so dangerous – there is little certainty when a party makes such key U-turns on a regular basis, as well as keeping quiet on their actual policies for the upcoming election so that people still have little idea what they would be voting for.
